Huawei's restricted access to 5G network backed by top defence think tank

In a special briefing on the eve of the Government’s decision to allow the Chinese telecoms to help build the network, James Sullivan, head of Rusi’s cyber security research, backed the proposal to exclude it from the “most sensitive” parts but allow it to provide peripheral technology such as masts and antennae. “We believe this would be a practical and realistic decision that adheres to the principles of cyber risk management and reflects the views of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC),” he said.
