Energy, security and climate change are interacting in increasingly complex ways as new technologies emerge, weather patterns form, and the world moves towards multipolarity. Join RUSI for a ministerial keynote and high-level discussion about what the UK can do to remain prosperous and secure in this changing environment.

Governments around the world have experienced a shock over the past few years as energy security returns to the forefront of political discussion. But the implications of the 'polycrisis' go far beyond the need to secure alternative supplies of oil and gas, changing the calculus of geopolitics and the fundamentals of the global economy and shifting the imperatives of diplomacy.

At the same time, governments, businesses and households are gaining new tools to manage energy supply chains and alleviate macroeconomic challenges.  This makes the timing of the creation of the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero particularly apt.

Our event is part of RUSI’s UK National Security and Net Zero project, which will explore the changing risk environment faced by the UK as a result of current and future energy security imperatives.
