RUSI MEMBERS ONLY: Film Screening: Letters from Baghdad

20 April 2017, 17:00
RUSI Whitehall
RUSI, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office Historians and Between the Rivers Productions are delighted to invite you to the pre-UK launch film screening of 'Letters From Baghdad'.

Letters from Baghdad tells the extraordinary and dramatic story of Gertrude Bell, the most powerful woman in the British Empire in her day. Using stunning, never-seen-before footage of the region, the film chronicles her extraordinary journey into the uncharted Arabian desert and the inner sanctum of British colonial power. She shaped the modern Middle East after World War I in ways that still reverberate today. More influential than her friend and colleague Lawrence of Arabia, Bell helped draw the borders of Iraq and established the Iraq Museum.

The evening will end with a panel discussion and a drinks reception.

We would advise early booking as spaces are limited. Advance tickets can be purchased for £12.00 (including VAT) online and at the door (if there are still seats available), and the price includes a drinks reception.

In order to purchase your ticket, please register using the "Register Now" button above. If you have any queries please contact RUSI Events at
