An online address by the Prime Minister of Georgia, His Excellency Mr Giorgi Gakharia, on Georgia’s pro-Western foreign policy agenda, security threats and the challenges ahead.

Addressing the key priorities of Georgia’s pro-Western foreign policy agenda, His Excellency Mr Giorgi Gakharia discusses Georgia’s progress and challenges in its path to European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Twelve years on since the Russian-Georgian war of August 2008, Georgia still faces Russian aggression on its soil and is a major target of the Kremlin’s malign activities from creeping occupation to spreading disinformation. Yet, despite existing security threats, Georgia is a reliable partner and contributor to strengthening Euro-Atlantic security and international stability.

In his address, the Prime Minister discusses the practical steps that Georgia is undertaking in order to meet its foreign policy aspirations.

His Excellency Mr Giorgi Gakharia is the Prime Minister of Georgia. Since 2013, he has held a number of senior positions in government, including: Vice Prime Minister, Secretary of the National Security Council, Minister of Internal Affairs, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Adviser to the Prime Minister, Secretary of the Economic Council and Business Ombudsman. Earlier in his career, Mr Gakharia held various senior positions in the private sector. He holds an MBA and MA in political science from Lomonosov Moscow State University.
