This panel discussion will seek to understand the Russian government's management of the economy and potential plans for reform.

Even in light of sanctions and the drop in oil prices, according to the IMF growth is expected to return to the Russian economy in 2017. But what does this mean in the context of Russia's political economy, investment climate and upcoming elections? This panel discussion will seek to understand these themes in the context of the Russian government's management of the economy and potential plans for reform.

The event will draw on Sarah Lain's RUSI report on Corporate Raiding in Russia to introduce challenges facing domestic investment in Russia, followed by expert commentary on the Russian economy from Oksana Antonenko and Dr Richard Connolly. Richard Connolly will discuss how Western sanctions and the gradual securitisation of economic policy in Russia are shaping the business environment. Oksana Antonenko will discuss the prospects and potential for economic reform in Russia, in light of the upcoming Presidential election.
