OPEN TO ALL: Iraq after the Liberation of Mosul: Turning a Fragile Unity into Stable Government
The research includes a 2,000 person national survey with oversamples in Mosul, Anbar, and Salahaddin, and 12 focus groups including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and citizens who lived under the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Leslie Campbell and John Moreira will discuss the key findings, and NDI's current efforts to support democratic actors in Iraq.
Leslie Campbell - Senior Associate and Regional Director for Middle East and North Africa Programs, National Democratic Institute - has directed the National Democratic Institute’s (NDI) programs in the Middle East and North Africa region since 1996. Prior to that Mr Campbell worked for NDI in Russia and Bosnia. NDI’s programs support political reform, parliamentary strengthening and civil society development throughout the region. Mr Campbell has served on task forces and study groups on Middle East democracy at the Brookings Institution, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and the United States Institute of Peace and is a member of the Agenda Working Group for the Halifax International Security Forum.
John Moreira - President, JPM Strategic Solutions - has over 15 years of opinion research and campaign experience having worked in over 40 countries. He has earned a reputation as one of the leading experts in survey and focus group methodologies, particularly in developing countries, and has accurately predicted elections throughout the world. As a veteran strategist and former Vice-President at Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research, Moreira's campaign and research experience has helped bring political leaders and parties to power in Europe, Asia, South America and the United States. His expertise has also helped organizations such as the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the World Bank, USAID, among others, in developing advocacy campaigns and democracy building in developing countries throughout the world.
