A panel discussion on the current crisis in the Gulf, and its implications for policy in the United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom's longstanding role in the Gulf means that the current impasse presents a myriad of challenges to the UK national interest. The panel will discuss the status of the crisis, its impacts both regionally and globally, and how the crisis may affect the UK's long standing interests in the Gulf.

The speakers for this event include:

  • Sir Malcolm Rifkind, former Foreign Secretary and Defence Secretary
  • Lt Gen Sir Simon Mayall, former Defence Senior Adviser Middle East, Ministry of Defence
  • Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma, Ministry of Education, The Kingdom of Bahrain

The event will be chaired by Michael Stephens, Research Fellow Middle East, Head of RUSI Qatar.
