This culminated in the launch of the first ever cross-government, public-private Economic Crime Plan in July 2019, which sought to get a grip on the problem by taking action along a number of policy, legislative and operational streams.
Essential to tackling the problem of economic crime is building a more coherent and better resourced response within operational policing, an issue on which the plan is largely silent. This event, chaired by the Centre for Financial Crime and Security Studies at RUSI, seeks to start a meaningful debate on what economic crime policing needs to look like in the future to deal with both current and future economic crime threats.
