As the current Commander of Joint Force Operations, Brigadier Ridge will outline the changing context for UK military crisis response recognising challenges including the potential violent extremist threat, the complexity of the information environment and theatre entry.

Brigadier Ridge will further reflect on what this means for the nature and construct of military deployments and how this has been reflected in recent British efforts. He will also offer some insights and thoughts as to what this might mean in the future and the impact of developing concepts such as information advantage and the Fusion Doctrine.

Brigadier John Ridge CBE joined the Regular Army in 1995 having previously served in the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia). After completion of various tours, he moved into a staff appointment in the Ministry of Defence as MA to ACDS (Ops), before returning to sub unit command. Before being posted to Northwood as Chief Joint Force Operations in September 2017, Brigadier Ridge had appointments as the Army Pay Colonel and 8 Engineer Brigade Commander.
