Maritime Power in the 21st Century
This was the first RUSI conference for some years specifically on maritime power, and sat alongside our annual events on air and land power. The first day considered maritime power in a global strategic context and explored its characteristics, roles and values. The second day focused on maritime power from a UK perspective with an examination of the UK’s maritime capability, as well as looking at Network Enabled Capability in the maritime environment. It was followed by a discussion of the Royal Navy’s new Future Naval Operational Concept. The conference, which coincides with the Royal Navy’s development of strategic papers and revision of doctrine, was produced in association with the Naval Staff; Admiral Sir Alan West, First Sea Lord, gave the keynote address.
The following are some of the papers presented at the conference. Please note, RUSI holds copyright.
