Austria Fifty Years After the State Treaty

14 June 2005, 23:00

On 15 May 1955, the signing of the Austrian State Treaty heralded the departure, within three months, of the occupying Soviet military and re-established Austria as a democratic, independent state. Whilst celebrations organised by the Austrian Government take place in Vienna. RUSI is proud to be hosting the official conference marking this significant anniversary.

Bringing together past and present, discussion will include not only the current state of bilateral relations, but also the security contribution which a non-alligned power like Austria can make in today’s Europe.
