He argues that there has been much progress over the last nine years, but more needs to be done to support dometic efforts to communicate directly with the Afghan public. In particular, this requires prioritising Afghan journalists in embedded exercises and ensuring energy is not diverted into sustaining internationally sponsored institutions at the expense of the grassroots.
