The Battle of Britain: A Reassessment

Seventy years on, it is worth revisiting the Battle of Britain. While there is rightly
emphasis on the role of RAF Fighter Command, the battle was more complex. RAF
Bomber Command launched spoiling raids against German airfields in occupied Europe, while the war at sea was intense as U-boats struck at Allied and neutral shipping. The ‘finest hour’ was a more complex affair than normally presented.
