About the event:

While Pakistan remains the West’s closest ally in the conflict against extremism in Afghanistan and the RUSImotif smallregion, it has also faced attacks within its own borders from the same extremist groups using the country as a base of operations. The past few months have been no exception, with attacks on the Army, the Navy and the intelligence agency ISI.

The RUSI Library of Military History is proud to present a Members’ lecture from Owen Bennett-Jones  on his seminal work, Pakistan: the Eye of the Storm. Taking into account tumultuous events over the last six years, this new edition is required reading for experts on Pakistan.

Owen Bennett-Jones, a BBC correspondent in Pakistan for many years, has spent most of his journalistic career focused on the region and his writing has served to bridge the understanding between London and Islamabad. Currently a host on the BBC World Service news show The Interview, Bennett-Jones won in 2008 a Sony Radio Gold Award in the News Journalist of the Year category. Bennett-Jones has written for a number of publications including the Guardian, The Financial Times, and the Independent. He was educated at the London School of Economics and at Oxford University.
