multimap About the event:
In an investigation of unparalleled scope, involving more than 200 interviews with both British and American soldiers and candid comments from senior commanders and other key players, Grey traces the tentacles of a very modern war from the ground upwards. He reveals not only incredible stories of heroism and the human consequences of equipment deficiencies, but also intrigues in the Presidential Palace, the real story of discreet talks with the Taliban and the tensions between allies and government departments. Grey will also bring to light ongoing doubts and debate from the ground and the highest level, about where the war in Afghanistan is heading.
Stephen Grey is best known for his world exclusive revelations on the CIA's secret rendition program. A former editor on the Sunday Times' investigations unit, the Insight team, Stephen has continued to contribute to the newspaper, as well to the New York Times, Guardian, The Times, Independent, New Statesman and Newsweek. He has reported for Channel 4's Dispatches, BBC Newsnight, BBC Radio Four and the World Service. He has been nominated for, and won, several major press awards.
This is followed by a drinks reception from 1900 to 2000. The author will be on hand to sign copies of his book which will be on sale at a special price of £12.
