Alexander Neill

Position: Senior Research Fellow, Asia Studies

Alexander Neill is a graduate of the School of Oriental and African Studies and prior to joining RUSI was an analyst for the British government which included a tour with the British Embassy in Washington DC.

As Head of the Asia Security Programme, Alexander’s responsibilities include leading research projects, hosting private meetings and public conferences on all aspects of Asian defence and security issues. Alexander regularly contributes to RUSI’s publications and commentary to RUSI.org. He is also responsible for commenting in the media on behalf of RUSI on Asian affairs and in particular on issues associated with China.

His main interests pertaining to Asia include: Chinese foreign and national security policy and international relations, the influence of globalisation on the Asia region and the Taleban insurgency in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
