Christopher M. Davidson

Position: Associate Fellow

Dr. Christopher M. Davidson is a reader in Government and International Affairs at Durham University. He was formerly an assistant professor at Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates and a visiting associate professor at Kyoto University in Japan.  He is a listed expert with the United Nation's Alliance of Civilisations, has been consulted by the UN's Special Rapporteur on Human Rights, and his work has been cited by the UNHCR - the UN Refugee Agency. 

He is the author of four single authored books: The United Arab Emirates: A Study in Survival; Dubai: The Vulnerability of Success; Abu Dhabi: Oil and Beyond; and The Persian Gulf and Pacific Asia: From Indifference to Interdependence.  He has delivered public lectures at a number of leading universities, including Stanford, Yale, Oxford, and the LSE.  He was written articles for the Guardian, the Daily Telegraph, the New Statesman, Foreign Policy, Al-Akhbar, and OpenDemocracy.  He has appeared on most mainstream current affairs television and radio shows, including BBC 2's Newsnight, BBC Radio 4's PM and Today shows, Sky's Jeff Randall Show, CNN's Connect the World, and NPR's All Things Considered
