Keith Hayward
Position: Associate Fellow
Professor Keith Hayward was educated at the Universities of Lancaster and Manchester and was Professor of International Relations at Staffordshire University until 1998, and has been a Visiting Professor since January 1999.
Professor Hayward has researched extensively on the subject of defence and aerospace policy. He is the author of over forty books, scholarly and other articles on the aerospace and defence industries. He has undertaken studies on European procurement and industrial rationalization commissioned by the WEU Institute for Security Studies and the Royal United Services Institute. Most recently he has published an article in Survival on defence industrial globalization.
Professor Hayward has been a consultant to the UK Department of Trade & Industry, the House of Commons Trade and Industry Committee, the US Congress Office of Technology Assessment, the UK Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA) and several European aerospace companies. Professor Hayward is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. During 2002-3, he was seconded to the DTI as part of the Enabling Team overseeing the production of Aerospace Innovation and Growth Team Report.
As a Research Fellow of the RUSI, he has been associated with the Institute’s work on defence procurement, the defence industrial base and defence R&D policy. He has written several Whitehall Papers and books on subjects ranging from the World Aerospace Industry, through UK Military Space Policy to the Military Uses of Airships.
