Now in their fifth year, RUSI’s CNI conferences are firmly established as the most important public forum for discussion of critical infrastructure policy. This year the conference explored the full breadth of reform to CNI policy and delivered insights on security and resilience priorities in the period ahead.
Session One - Cyber Security, Information Assurance and CNI
This session explored the growing importance of cyber networks to critical infrastructure, the changing nature of cyber threats and the technologies, strategies and partnerships best suited to counter them.
Session Two - Natural Hazards and Infrastructure Resilience
This session examined the threats posed by extreme weather to essential services within the UK, and highlighted the contingency measures through which critical infrastructures might be protected from natural hazards.
Session Three - The Future of UK Energy Security
This session examined the existing strategies for securing energy supplies within the UK, the vulnerability of these supplies to both natural and man-made hazards, and the challenges and opportunities which emerge from the UK’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
Session Four - Nuclear Safety and Security
This session explored the current threats to civil nuclear sites within the UK, and the lessons which government, industry and regulatory bodies can learn from the recent events in Fukushima, Japan.
