Over the last 180 years, radical technological change has revolutionised warfare. Throughout its history, the RUSI Journal has sought to gauge both what might be possible through mankind’s invention and also what impact new materials, weapons and vehicles might have on the nature and conduct of war. These excerpts span an era of unmatched technological evolution in which so much, from metallurgy to medicine, to transportation and communication, was fundamentally changed by the march of progress – not least, the conduct of war itself.

Access archives
As part of RUSI's 180 Year celebrations, RUSI's flasghip publication will be archived and be available for access to RUSI members.
Currently the RUSI Journal archives are available from 1857 to 1875. More will issues will be added during the course of the 180 celebratory year.
